Because Mondays Are Hard (Vol. 15)

Happy first Monday of the new year! That's a thing worth celebrating, right? A clean slate is at your fingertips and it's your choice on how you utilize it. I like to think I'm not a resolution maker, but really, I'm just not a resolution follower. I make them. Basically every year I scribble them on a piece of paper that I stuff inside a drawer and never see again. Maybe I should get better at that.

Maybe I should write my resolutions here so that I can be held a bit more accountable? Yeah, no. That seems mildly obnoxious and perhaps a bit too personal. I love you all, but some things don't need to be shared. I can share one thing that I started last year and will continue to work toward this year though. I will strive to make your Mondays and my Mondays better. Both by changing my perspective and sharing adorable, hilarious, and genuine links I hope to make that first day of the week more bearable for you, even if just a bit. That's a resolution I think I can actually keep.

Here are this week's links:

1. His giggles will brighten your day. Promise.

2. These puppies and kittens meet for the first time. Your heart will swell.

3. We should all take note from these tourists' mistakes. Don't recline your seat and keep your clothes on and you'll probably be good.

Take on Monday like a boss!

Because Mondays Are Hard (Vol. 10)

Welcome back to Monday!

Having four days in a row to not think about work and just be with family was amazing. The best part of the weekend was assisting my little sister in surprising my Mom by coming home from Honduras for a few days. She was literally shocked and I was able to prove that I am actually capable of keeping a secret.

Thursday was spent with Josiah's family eating insane amounts of Oreo Truffles and playing Heads Up (Ellen Degeneres' new Game that basically everyone should be playing.) Friday we spent time with my family where we would have appeared to have been carb-loading for some sort of marathon. Mostacholi, garlic bread, pumpkin roll, and Krispy Kreme doughnuts are just a few of the many things we had. Luckily I finally came out of my food coma this morning.

In case you're still coming out of your food coma or just wanting something to laugh about this morning, I have just what you're looking for. Here are you Monday links.

1. If your Thanksgiving included as much delicious food as mine did, you can probably relate to this

2. Maybe you're considering going to the gym this week to get things back in balance, these cats understand your struggle.

3. I told you I was obsessed with Adele. Here is further proof that you should be too.

Let's Monday.

Because Mondays Are Hard (Vol. 9)

Welcome to the first Monday of Winter. At least I think it's Winter? I don't know what the calendar says, but the foot of snow outside my apartment makes me think it is Winter. Call me crazy.

Over the years, there are a few things I've noted about the first snow fall in the Midwest. First, people act shocked by the snow no matter how long they have lived here. It happens basically every year people. Second, everyone forgets how to drive. Watch out. Third, a lot more people are happy about the first snow fall than they are about any other snow falls following. Everyone loses interest real quick when they remember how much more difficult it is to get anywhere in the snow. We all basically hate winter, it just takes us a few days after the first snow fall to realize it. And once we realize we hate it, we hate it so much. It basically becomes our part-time job to hate on winter.

I'm not going to claim to taking the high road here, but I do not want to waste my time dreading four months of the year again. This year Josiah and I are attempting to embrace winter. {I say attempting because it is going to be a difficult feat}. Well, maybe not embracing winter, but the cozy things that winter brings about. Hot chocolate? Oversized sweaters? Fires? Cozy blankets? Netflix? I am so there. Cold and snow? Not super into it. We are going to try to change our focus during this dreaded season. So yes, it's still going to be cold and yes, there is still going to be more snow than anyone asked for, but we are going to try our very best to think about the more desirable parts. Wish us luck.

Here are your Monday links:

1. I'm not sure that "strange" even begins to cover it.  This will leave you laughing, but also horrified because who does stuff like that??

2. When your Monday isn't going the way you want it to, just pretend you're here. Your boss won't find you.

3. If the weekend's snow fall is dragging you down on this Monday just take a few tips from these people. The old man in uggs and yoga pants knows what's up.

Happy Monday, friends!

xoxo, Jenna

Because Mondays Are Hard (Vol. 5)

I hope you completed last week's assignment to do some adventuring. I hope you lost track of time and did something crazy. I hope you lost yourself in the moment and then found yourself on the other side refreshed and renewed.

This weekend was a tad less adventurous for us. Maybe not less adventurous, but a different adventurous - more of a stay-home-all-day-and-make-waffles-and-relax kind of adventurous. I appreciated the time to organize my thoughts before facing the week. P.S. Yeast waffles are totally worth the wait. #gotorecipe

You better savor every last minute of the weekend (which I consider to last until 8:00 am on Monday). Sip that coffee, in fact, pour an extra cup, take a deep breath, and check out these links.

1. Adele is back, and with a single that makes me envy her voice even more.

2. The brutal honesty of children.

3. If you't aren't convinced that cats are awesome yet.

Let's Monday.
