Hello Monday, friends!
I hope the first week of the new year treated you well. If your goal for 2017 is to strive for progress over perfection, my hope is that you are feeling the freedom and calm that comes with that and are giving yourself grace to live life in the here and now.
Here's what my past week looked like:
I am very proud to say that the gym saw my face a lot more this week than it has in recent months and I have remained committed to Whole30 for 8 days. Lots of La Croix (the coconut is seriously amazing) and equal amounts of spinach have been consumed. I feel better and although I may not always be perfect I am 110% positive that I am making progress towards being my healthiest self. #progressoverperfection
I read a lot this week. Social media has had far too tight of a hold on me lately and I thought I would try a change of pace. Currently I am working through A Million Miles In A Thousand Years . It's such a good one! It's an easy read and I promise, it will force you off your couch to go out and live a meaningful life. No big deal.
The cold is kind of getting to me. I am practically hibernating. Coffee, soups, tea, and more coffee are the only things keeping me sane. Oh and netflix! But I just finished GIlmore Girls, so maybe this week will be my breaking point. This episode of the A Couple Cook's podcast has some really good tips for surviving winter (one of which involves making a cup of coffee every day at 2pm) that I should probably implement. I was very encouraged to realized that there is still light left in the sky, even if just a tiny amount, at 5:20pm. And every day it will stay later and later, which comforts a summer junkie like me.
This week I contemplated throwing out all of our belongs after watching the documentary The Minimalist on Netflix. Last spring Josiah and I went through a minimalist phase. I call it a phase because I fell back into wanting and purchasing like a total non-minimalist this past summer/fall, but felt the dissatisfaction and discontentment that comes with it. I don't think I foresee Josiah and I ever getting to the point of only owning two bowls, two spoons, and five outfit combinations, but I definitely remember the feeling of freedom that came with shifting our focus from wanting things. The feeling of contentment and fulfillment. Hopefully these thoughts can move forward into actions. My closet is probably the most necessary starting point.
I hope that this week you all continue to stay inspired and press on towards those goals that you have for yourself. Have a lovely Monday, loves.
Here are this week's links:
1. Don't mistake this for baby fever, but OH MY GOSH I CAN'T LOOK AWAY! It's just so dang adorable.
3. I love fireworks + love, potentially equally.
4. I love that this minimalist challenge isn't just about getting rid of stuff. It focuses on the other aspects of our life that can get cluttered.
5. Today we are on Day 9 of Whole30 and this list of snack has been our go-to. If you are considering a Whole30 or even just looking for healthy snack inspiration, take a look! Her meal ideas are amazing too. Super, super simple which I am all about.
