Happy Monday, Friends!
Josiah and I enjoyed a weekend in Steamboat Springs, CO with equal parts work and play. Saturday was mostly driving which included a potential flat tire and a detour that google maps did not account for, landing us at the hotel one minute prior to when we needed to be there, which was okay, but mildly stressful because we had allowed an hour and a half cushion and somehow . I'm not one to push the limits of time, especially when it comes to wedding days. I am usually sitting in the parking at least 30 minutes before so I can take a minute to collect my thoughts and prep myself for the day ahead. So "on time" to me really felt like being late. The rest of Saturday went smoothly and was spent shooting a gorgeous wedding beneath the Aspens of Steamboat. I can't wait to share all the pretty with you.
Sunday we slept in and then headed to the cutest breakfast spot in downtown Steamboat where I may or may not have consumed a ginormous peach waffle topped with granola and a chocolate donut cocktail (glazed donut vodka + chocolate milk). Worth the sugar coma, promise. After breakfast we took a gondola ride up the mountain and experienced breathtaking views (and got a little sunburned). We were planning to head to the hot springs after, but realized we had forgotten our swimsuits at home and didn't have any luck trying to find replacements at walmart. It just means we need to make another trip! We finished the day out by walking around downtown and loading up at one of the local candy stores. #sugaraddicts It was such a great weekend!
Now, on to our "news" (I suppose that's what we can call it). When Josiah and I moved to Denver, we had no idea what this adventure would bring. Parts of us thought maybe we would live here forever while other parts of us thought maybe this was just a stepping stone to another destination, but truly neither of us had any idea what the future held. Since we've moved here we've just kind of gone with the flow. Five months later, here we are, still kind of going with the flow. This time, however, the flow seems to be taking us somewhere we didn't expect, but nonetheless where we need to be. Since we have been here Josiah has been doing some freelance work that he really likes, but has been offered a job at a design firm in Chicago that is far too perfect to resist. Yes, Chicago. That city that we just moved from six months ago. Life is funny. As I'm writing it out I can't help but grin because I know that if I would have been aware six months ago that this was how things would end up I wouldn't be anywhere near as happy as I am now. But now, I'm sitting here thinking about the road ahead and my heart is so happy. I'm so at peace with this next step in our adventure together and I am so thankful for all of you following along. Our life is crazy, and who knows where we will end up next, but I love it and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Have an amazing Monday, everyone!
1. I am envious of these flower arrangement skills.
2. I love the simplicity of this look.
3. Homemade ice cream is one of my favorite desserts. I might have to try this recipe!
5. The perfect casual and dressy sandal. Clearly I am not ready to let go of summer.
6. In case you ODed on sugar like I did this weekend..
p.s. I am now booking both Chicago + Colorado weddings for 2017!
